Severe storms are still expected across the entire area later on today… An Enhanced risk has been issued for the mountains of Western NC and parts of the Tri-cities and Knoxville areas – keeping a slight risk for the general Crossville area. The main threat is is damaging winds of 50-60 mph with gust up to 70 mph with the strongest storms. Isolated to a few tornadoes are possible with any supercell that develops generally after 2 PM due to a somewhat strong flow in the 1-3km range of 200-300 m2. Instability and CAPE still reaches the 1000-2000 J/Kg range with locally higher amounts of 2500 J/Kg possible according to the latest HRRR run.
Overall, severe storms are possible to likely with all hazard types possible.
