MARYVILLE, Tenn. – The Blount County Sheriff’s Office has announced plans for a significant law enforcement presence in the Wildwood neighborhood northeast of Maryville as they conduct a “non-tactical ground search.” The search is set to commence in the early afternoon, according to a recent Facebook post by the sheriff’s office.

While the spokesperson for the sheriff’s office refrained from confirming whether the operation is directly linked to the search for a suspect charged with the fatal shooting of a BCSO deputy, the proximity of the neighborhood to the shooting site – less than five miles away – has raised speculation about a potential connection.

The Facebook post emphasized that residents need not be alarmed by the heightened law enforcement activity in the area, reassuring the community of their safety.

As the situation unfolds, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office urges residents in the vicinity or those with acquaintances in the Wildwood neighborhood to share the information to ensure widespread awareness.
