Knoxville, TN – The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) has launched an investigation following a hit-and-run incident in the Old City area, leaving a woman hospitalized early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2024, near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and Wagon Wheel. KPD officers were summoned to the scene after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle that fled the area.

According to initial reports, a 28-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle while traversing the area. The victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was promptly transported to the UT Medical Center for medical attention.

Evidence gathered at the scene suggests that the vehicle involved in the incident is a silver sedan, which was allegedly traveling south on Jackson Avenue at the time of the collision.

In the wake of the hit-and-run, authorities are urging anyone with pertinent information regarding the vehicle or the driver to come forward.
